Another bitch fest. Look away, son. Look away.

Yeah, I know. I bitch a lot here. Believe it or not, I don't bitch a lot on real life, so I come here to blow off steam. It's my blog and I'll bitch if I want to.

Oh yeah. That just happened. 60's song references. It's how I roll.

Whatever happened to personal responsibility?

Why is it that if someone chooses to have a child (or 10) that they can't afford, we as taxpayers are expected to provide medical care, food, day care and cash for them? Why is it ok to have more children than you can afford and just expect the government to pay for it? How about getting a job. There I said it. Get a damn job and quit mooching off of the government. Once you have said job, if you lose it because of no fault of your own, then by all means collect unemployment while you look for another job.

Why is it that if someone makes the decision to buy a house using a sub-prime lender and/or with an adjustable rate mortgage - with a payment that they know will raise to a level that they can't afford - we as taxpayers are expected to bail them out? Seriously. You signed the papers, not me. You knew that your rate would go up and that you wouldn't be able to afford the payment. Why should the government be expected to step in and bail you out. Or worse yet, stop the mortgage company - that has legal right to foreclose from doing so.

I am all for helping people. Hell, over the years I have spent a big chunk of my time and resources doing so. But I help people because I think it is the right thing to do. Not because my government mandates it.

Oops... is my Libertarian side showing again?

*While none of these rants are directed at any one person, they are absolutely based on real people, who of course will remain nameless.

** And of curse when I say "we as taxpayers" I mean all of you that work. I don't, but my husband busts his ass 50+ hours a week, so I think that affords me the opportunity to call us as a collective taxpayers.
